Castlerigg, Druids & the Ancient “Hot Stone”

As part of his return home from Vienna to spend holiday time with us, it was at our son Thomas’s request that we visit the Lake District. When our two lads were small, my mum and dad bought a holiday lodge near Kendal in the South Lakes area so with it only being a couple of hours drive away, it was a wonderful thing to be able to spend family time there at weekends and during school holidays. In that time, we all built up a great affinity and love for the Lakes and as we’d not visited since lockdown, there was no hesitation in making the decision to go.

Castlerigg Stone Circle near Keswick was our first port of call so we decided to set off at the crack of dawn to avoid it being too ā€˜peopley’ when we got there. It’s a place we’ve visited many times and it never fails to impress, even driving up on the M6, there is one point a few miles before the A66 junction when those majestic green hills come into view and it never fails to take my breath away! There is something truly magical and mystical about the western hills and mountains of these beautiful islands and the incredible energies and deep ancestral connections wrap themselves around me like no other place. When I’m there, I’m at home, my true Earthly spiritual home.

On arrival, it was a beautiful Spring morning, the air was crisp and fresh and the sun was shining, casting shadows on the natural amphitheatre of multi-coloured hills surrounding us. It was as if the torrential rain we’ve endured for the last six months had become a distant memory, only to be reminded of it by occasional muddy puddles around the bases of the stones. With not too many people around, the conditions for a bit of ā€œstone botheringā€ were perfect, however, an ice cream van had already parked up on the roadside so we knew the hordes were expected at any moment!

After entering the site, Thomas, Ann and I all went our separate ways, weaving in and around the stones. Ann was quick to jump on Facebook to share our experience with a video record of our visit. In the previous week’s newsletter, I’d posted some information given to me by my Atlantean Druid Guide, Uther the Dragon, in which he’d not only outlined the purposes of stones at the ancient sites but he’d also referred to their resonant frequencies which as a sound healer, is of the greatest interest to me. If you missed my blog, “Crack the Code: Stone Circles Mysteries Revealed,” you can read it here as it might help to fill in the blanks in this follow-up.

To ensure we visited the places Thomas had on his list, our visit could best be described as a whistle stop tour so time was of the essence. Although I could spend weeks there, I was primarily interested in what Uther calls the ā€œHot Stoneā€ which is identifiable by its temperature being slightly warmer than the other stones. He told me that this stone is the dominant stone and acts as the kingpin, holding the circle together, a little bit like the keystone in an archway . It receives and transmits energy to all the other stones, keeping them in balance.

There are 38 stones at this particular site but it’s considered that there were 42 at some point. With that in mind and time ticking away, I got to work. I fully accept that doing what I do would start some eyes rolling with a few tuts and sighs of ā€œweirdoā€ being uttered but being a Spiritual Medium of 30 years, I continued unfazed. Using the flat of my hand, I checked each stone, being careful to only feel the shadowed or cooler side so as not to pick up the natural heat of the sun’s radiation. Eventually, after checking a few times just to make sure, I found the one stone which was slightly warmer than the rest.

I then checked the alignment of the circle. I did this by taking its directional orientation from what can be described as the entrance to the circle itself which is clearly marked by two taller stones. If I drew a straight line from the Hot Stone, it passes directly through the middle of the circle entrance and according to the crude compass app on my phone, it was north/south oriented. Using my own sense of direction, it felt right. When I got home and had proper access to the Internet, I checked this with various maps and it corroborated so perhaps I should give my app more credit?

So, just as we did at the Nine Ladies circle 12 months prior, we’d found the Hot Stone at Castlerigg…Yay!

My next quest was to test for frequency resonance. To do this, I have an app on my phone called ā€œTone Genā€ which I use for my sound healing work. It’s free and very effective so I recommend it to anyone who is interested in this type of work. Firstly, I checked the Hot Stone for any faint traces of vibration created by any other sources and was satisfied that I wasn’t picking anything up. Uther stated that this stone resonates at or around 120Hz. After setting my app to that frequency, I then applied my phone to the stone, ensuring the speakers were in contact with it. It was difficult to hear the tone because of the gusty wind but once in place, I instantly felt the stone begin to resonate and vibrate. After repeating this a few times and putting my spare testing hand in various different places around the stone, I got the same results each time. In conclusion, I was satisfied that the tone did indeed create resonance at that frequency.

Being personally satisfied with my results though was not enough so I enlisted the help of both Thomas and Ann to do the same. Again, they felt the vibrational resonance. When the tone was applied, the stone felt almost hollow and weirdly, it intuitively gave me the impression that it weighed less than it probably did. Could this be an indication that the frequency was somehow affecting the mass of the stone and if so, perhaps it might begin to explain the stories we hear of stones being levitated? This prompted a memory of a previous encounter at Castlerigg where I’d witnessed a vision of Druid like people walking up the hill towards the circle. What was fascinating about it was that the lead Druid was holding what looked like a wooden wand or staff out to his side and underneath it was a levitating stone following him!

With time almost up, there was just one more location in the circle which had always intrigued me and apparently, it is a relatively unique feature in stones circles. To the east of the circle, there are a group of stones which form a rectangular area inward from the circles edge. I decided it was time to wake Uther up so I tuned in.

It took a little while but eventually we were communicating. He told me that this was originally a resonance chamber, possibly with a dolmen type roof or covering. We’d encountered many of these structures in Anglesey and each one we discovered, was resonant at certain frequencies. This was no different other than it wasn’t covered. Once again I took my phone and decided to use the frequency of 111Hz which is also called the ā€œDivine Frequency.ā€ This powerful healing frequency has been found to resonate at ancient sites all around the world. After applying the frequency to one of the stones, the familiar vibrational resonance was felt running through my spare hand. Bingo!

Uther explained that people would sit, stand or lay in this area and chant or tone. To maximise the power, it was best to sit with your back leaning against a stone as the chest is a natural resonance chamber and reverberates like a cathedral when the organ is playing. It’s purpose was for healing but also for supplying power to the ā€œCentrumā€ or centre of the circle which when used correctly, would create the perfect space for meditation and would open up inter-dimensional portals.

He also imparted that the circle aligns cosmically with the constellation of Orion but sadly, I didn’t get time to check out where the Cosmic alignment stones are located, however, it may be of interest to know that Thornborough Henge near Masham and The Devils Arrows at Boroughbridge, are not only aligned with Orion but there are ley lines which connect all three sites!

Uther nicely rounded off our visit by telling me that he’d helped to plan and build Castlerigg and that as part of the Atlantean/Celtic migration he took to residing in these islands. I’m sure with some of the stuff I receive, mainstream psychologists would have a field day with it. I quite often get things which can sound outrageous at first but after I ponder over it, it begins to make sense. If you get the time to check out the videos on our visit to Castlerigg, you’ll hear me referring to myself as a ā€œwack job!ā€ It’s always better to speak kindly to oneself but sometimes I find the odd expletive or personal insult can be a very effective grounding technique for bringing myself back down to planet Earth šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‚

After what Uther revealed, the feelings that I have of being at home in the Lakes and the feelings that I’ve lived a Celtic lifestyle are beginning to make sense to me but then again, according to him, I am his future incarnation and he often reminds me that he is me and I am him.

As I previously mentioned, I would love to spend more time at these sites and on that basis, I’d like to put the thought out to anyone who shares our interest that we might all meet up one time with compasses, tape measures, tone generators, dowsing rods, pendulums, maps and open minds to do some serious esoteric study. If this appeals, please feel free to drop us a comment in the comment section below and perhaps we can coordinate something in the not too distant future?

Thank you for taking an interest.

  1. Jonathan and Ann as you know I am very interested in Neolithic architecture; stone circles, cairns, Menhirs and would be more than happy to assist if I am able. Please note the link below for an ancient stone bothering group on Facebook I belong to –

    https://www.facebook.com/share/p/SzytonquE74MPoXc/?mibextid=WC7FNe

The link is to a post I did recently from visiting Ilkley Moor, and you should be able to identify the group and join from there.

Just in the last week I have been to Gamelands Stone Circle, Cumbria and Loupin & Gridle Stanes, Dumfrieshire and finally Ilkley Moor. I think I have been to over 60 sites now across the UK and am constantly on the look out for more.

    1. That’s brilliant Robbie, thank you. I’m already on the group and can’t believe I’ve never noticed your posts! I’ll keep a special look out for them in future and a massive yes to doing some collaboration work. Will have to catch up soon šŸ™‚

  2. Thanks Jonathan, really interesting. I don’t know much about this subject but am drawn to it and would be up for finding out more and joining up to investigate!

    1. Thank you for your comment and please be assured we have you on our list of ā€œancient site investigatorsā€ so we’ll let you know when we plan to do some visits. PS no experience needed 😊

  3. That’s really interesting Jonathan, count me and Bev in for a trip up their if we’re free.

    1. Thank you once again for taking the time to read the Blog Brian and we’ll let you know about our future ancient sites visits.

  4. Ahhh, thank you for writing this. First time visit today knowing nothing about them. Was drawn to the hot stone and felt some of the stones exhibited ‘liquidity’ / had been vibrating lightly and levitate into place.

If course, I know that makes me sound like a weirdo. Set to Google to see if there were any people recording anything similar and found your blog šŸ™‚

    1. Hi Luke, thank you for checking out our website and blog. Quite a few people have been able to identify the “hot stone” so it’s good to hear this worked for you too. There are definitely others now on social media beginning to work with frequencies on the stones which is very encouraging. Archaeology has its place but I feel that we have to get ‘esoteric’ if we’re ever going to find out the truth about these enigmatic structures. Try looking up the work of Cambridge professor, Paul Devereaux’s work in Ireland, it’s fascinating and we found sites on Anglesey resonating at frequencies between 95-135Hz as he puts forward. Good luck in your future findings and feel free to get back in touch.
