Original Usui Reiki
What is Original Usui Reiki?
The name Reiki, pronounced ‘Ray-key’, comes from the Japanese words ‘rei’ meaning spirit, and ‘ki’ meaning energy.
It is usually translated as ‘universal life energy.’ It is a simple Japanese energy-balancing method that is used by hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. It is most well known as a hands on, holistic energy healing system that is gentle and non-invasive and yet yields powerful results for the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is also a very powerful form of distant healing where time and distance is no object since its effectiveness is not dependent upon physical contact. Reiki is not a religion and neither does one have to believe in Reiki to experience its capabilities. It always goes to the deepest source of the problem and always supports a path towards balance and harmony. Reiki is a suitable treatment for everyone, no matter what their age.
Where does it originate?
Reiki was developed by a man called Mikao Usui in the early 1900s in Japan. Usui was a learned man with a vast knowledge in a variety of subjects. These included Chinese and Western medicine, psychology and the theology of religions around the world. He was also an expert in many of the Japanese martial arts including Samurai Swordmanship. Usui taught and practised Spiritual teachings based on Tendai Buddhism (a form of mystical Buddhism) and Shintoism (methods of controlling and working with the energies). He became very well known for his healing abilities and it was from this and his teachings that he referred to as a ‘Method to Achieve Personal Perfection’ that the name Reiki eventually came.
Today as back then people use Reiki for self-healing, for spiritual or self-development. Reiki practitioners carry out meditations, treat themselves and follow a set of simple, spiritual principles called the Reiki ‘precepts’.
What can Reiki do?
Anyone can benefit from a course of Reiki treatments, no matter what your age or your state of health and beneficial changes can take place over a fairly short space of time. Reiki can produce:

- A speeding up of the natural healing process
Reiki can also help you to:
- Feel more positive, confident and better able to cope
- Deal better with stressful people and difficult situations
- Develop a strong sense of purpose and clear-thinking
- Remove some of the ‘clutter’ from your life
- Enjoy a better quality of life
Reiki Treatments
Receiving Usui Reiki from a practitioner is a simple process. The client lies on a treatment table, or sits in a chair if laying down is uncomfortable and the practitioner will gently lay their hands on the body in a series of hand positions on the head, torso and legs, sometimes hovering the hands rather than touching. Each hand position is held for a few minutes. During the treatment, energy is drawn through the practitioner into the recipient, helping to produce a state of balance. The recipient remains fully clothed throughout the session, bar shoes of course for the comfort factor. During Angelic Reiki, the practitioner places their hands on the client usually on the shoulders and remains there for the duration of the session.
What might I feel?
Deep relaxation, heat from the practitioner’s hands, perhaps tingling, a feeling of floating or sinking, a colourful light show behind the eyelids, or perhaps nothing at all. It varies a lot from one person to another. But no matter what you feel during your treatment, Reiki is giving you what you need.
Do You Offer Any Other Types of Reiki?
Yes we do! We also offer Angelic Reiki and Reiki Drum. If you’re unsure as to which to choose, I would recommend starting with Original Usui Reiki and then we can talk about the different options at that appointment if you wish.
What is Angelic Reiki?
Angelic Reiki healing is a profound method of healing that is channelled through the practitioner from the multi-dimensional Angelic Kingdom. It is a safe and natural powerful healing modality blended from the Usui and Shamballa lineages that works with the highest frequencies of the Angelic realm to induce balance and healing on all levels. Angelic Reiki is suitable for everyone, no matter what their age.
Where does it originate?
The Angelic Reiki healing system was passed to a gentleman called Kevin Core between 2002 and 2003 from Archangel Metatron.
What can Angelic Reiki do?
Just like Usui Reiki, Angelic Reiki has a whole host of benefits. It is simply a different type of energy.
What is Reiki Drum?
From Ancient times to the present day, tribal cultures all over the world have used the power of the drum for healing the body, mind and spirit. Research in the western world is now revealing what has been known by shamans throughout the ages that the meditative sound of drumm-ing can have an extremely beneficial effect on illness and emotional trauma.
When the beautiful energies of Reiki are combined with the ancient practice of shamanic drumming, we have a powerful yet gentle healing technique.
Where did Reiki Drumming™ come from?
Michael Arthur Baird, a Reiki Master from the USA is the originator of Reiki Drumming™. As a Reiki Practitioner and a Middle Eastern Drummer, Michael combined Reiki with his drumming practice and the system was born! In 2007, Sarah Gregg, a Reiki Master from the UK who trained with Michael Baird, brought the system over here and began teaching it.
What happens during a Reiki Drum Treatment?
As the client relaxes on the treatment table, the therapist channels Reiki whilst softly drumming over and around the body, scanning the energy field and intuitively releasing any blockages within the aura. The drumming is then followed by a hands-on Reiki healing treatment to combine all the elements into the physical body. The recipient remains fully clothed throughout the session.
How many Reiki Drum treatments will I need?
This varies from person to person and is very much dependant on the individual and their reason for treatment.
How many Usui/Angelic Reiki treatments do I need?
While a single Reiki treatment will do something beneficial for you, bringing a sense of calm and peacefulness and maybe producing some short-term physical benefits too, the best results come through having a course of treatments, maybe 4-6 sessions at weekly intervals.
As the effects of Reiki build up cumulatively, having a course of treatments can help to produce long-term beneficial changes for you on many levels.
How much does a Reiki treatment cost?
Usui & Angelic Reiki costs £45 for 45 minute treatment, your appointment will last an hour in total and includes a free 15 minute consultation.
If you wish to book a course of treatments, there is a discount:

Animals and Reiki
Usui or Angelic Reiki is an ideal complementary treatment for animals because it is gentle and non-invasive. It doesn’t cause stress, discomfort, or pain and yet yields powerful results. Animals respond intuitively to Reiki’s power to heal emotional, behavioural and physical illnesses and injuries. It is ideal for use with animals as Reiki is not dependent upon physical contact, the animal controls the treatment, accepting Reiki in the ways that are most comfortable, either hands-on or from a distance, or a combination of the two. Home visits are preferable when treating animals with Reiki as they will feel more comfortable in their own environment.
